SEMA Assess Affected Flood Communities In Mangu LGA





The Plateau State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) has tour various communities in Mangu Local Government Area that were affected by heavy downpour on Sunday 4th August,2019 midnight.

The assessment tour of flood disaster was in collaboration with National Emergency management Agency( NEMA).

The communities visited were under Panyam, Anpam, Pushit and Mangun districts respectively.

Based on the feedings, our correspondent gather that maize farmlands, sugarcane farm as well as bridges witnessed clausal damage the situation that render affected communities vulnerable.

Our correspondent also learned that in six communities in Panyam district such as Ajing, kombol, Dangdai, kwangkong, Changel and Larkas respectively  over 100 farmlands were damaged.

Also in other areas visited like Mpre community under Kombun district farm products of about 200 individuals greatly engulfed by rainstorms.

The victims who expressed their ordeal as result of a downpour plead with the state and federal government(SEMA and NEMA)
to expedite action by coming to their aids as they remain hopeless.

While comforting the affected communities, leader of the delegation and Director of relief and rehabilitation SEMA, Walman Simon charged the victims to consider the incident as act of God

He assured to report to the government for prompt intervention in line with its core mandate of rendering humanitarian services.

The team of disaster assessment  earlier paid a courtesy visit to Mangu Local chairman, where Secretary of council Sunday Yilkyes commended SEMA for being proactive in terms disaster management.

He lament that the Local Government Area has its fear shared of natural disaster must especially matters regarding flood.

He task government to raise to the occasion of providing succour to the affected areas.
