Plateau State Labour Congress has given a 72 hours to Plateau state government to finish the negotiation for new minimum wage for Plateau workers that was suspended in March this year due to the outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic.


Chairman of the State Joint Negotiation Council, Comrade James Diwe at a Press conference held at Labour House in Jos on Tuesday, told news men that the 72 hours ultimatum starts from 12.00, midnight of Tuesday 10/11/2020, warning that the joint negotiation council may not be in position to guarantee Industrial peace in the state at the expiration of 72 hours.


According him, Labor had to issue an ultimatum to Government of Plateau state to implement the new minimum wage in October last month which could have prompted the state government to hurriedly went a head to implement a salary structure out side the agreement signed with Labor.


“All existing workers allowances from salaries so far paid have been removed or reduced drastically” He lamented.


He wondered why the state Commissioner of Information, Dan Manjang went ahead to make a statement on Monday that Government of Plateau State has fulfilled it’s part by paying the minimum wage based on the agreement between government and labour and directed workers that needs clearification to meet the leadership of their union.
