Prof Nora Ladi Daduut, the All Progressive Congress (APC) Candidate has emerged as the first female Plateau Senator to represent Plateau South Senatorial District in the Saturday 5th December 2020 Senatorial bye election to fill in the position of Late Sen Ignatius Longjan.She made history as the first Female Senator from Plateau State at the Plateau South Senatorial District by-election.
The declaration of Prof Nora Ladi Daduut as the Senator Elect was done by the Plateau South Senatorial District bye election Returning Officer,Prof Idris Amali, the Deputy Vice Chancellor of the Federal University Lafia.The Returning Officer declared Prof Nora Ladi Daduut of the APC elected having fulfilled all provisions of the Electoral Act and Guidelines and pulled 83,151 votes to defeat her closest rival, Rt. Hon. George Daika of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) who garnered 70,884 votes.
The APC Candidate won in
Qua'an-Pan LGA her home LGA, Shendam, Mikang and Wase LGAs while the PDP candidate won in Langtang North and South LGAs.
Plateau South Senatorial District has six LGAs and 712 polling units.The breakdown of the scores by the major political parties that contested the Plateau South Senatorial By- election include;APC- 83,151,PDP- 70,884,ADP- 627,ADC- 398 and NRM-251 votes respectively.
His Excellency, Rt Hon Barr Dr Simon Bako Lalong KSGG, Her Excellency, Mrs Regina Lalong, Rt Hon Idris Maje Wase, the Deputy Speaker of the Nigeria House of Representatives, Her Excellency, Dame Pauline Tallen,Sen.Victor Lar,the Director General of the Prof Nora Daduut Campaign Council, Sir Joseph Ari, KSGG, Prof Danladi Abok Atu,the SGS,Hon Noel Donjur,the COS,Hon Komsol Alphonsus Longgap,Member,Representing Mikang, Shendam and Quaan Pan in the House of Representatives,Hon Latep Dabang, the State APC Chairman, Bar Bashir Musa Sati, the State APC Secretary, amongst many others were at the collation centre to witness the making of history.
