Hon. Daniel Nanbol Listick, the esteemed representative of Langtang North Central State Constituency and Chairman of the House Committee on Labour and Security in the Plateau State House of Assembly recently met with the Nkalang O'Tarok Ga Liryem Forum of Publishers, Bloggers and Journalists.
In his opening remarks, Hon. Listick expressed the importance of engaging with the forum and encouraged them to highlight activities within Tarokland to enhance the region’s image. He urged the journalists, who represent print, radio, television, and online media, to use their platforms to promote Tarok culture and unity, stressing the need to preserve these values amidst modern challenges.

The Honourable Member provided insight into the State House of Assembly's decision to implement a two-year tenure for Local Government Chairmen in Plateau State. This, he explained, allows for better oversight of Local Government autonomy. If Chairmen demonstrate effective management, the tenure might revert to the previous four or three-year term.
Hon. Listick also called on journalists to advocate for essential civic actions such as child birth registration, voter card registration, and tax payments. He emphasised that these actions are crucial for utilising local government autonomy and boosting internally generated revenue.
The meeting also addressed various issues negatively affecting the Tarok nation and discussed how the media can contribute to solving these problems. Additionally, he highlighted the importance of school enrolment in securing financial support for Local Governments and advised the forum to combat child labour by promoting skills acquisition among children. This, he said, would help mitigate societal issues related to unemployment.
Hon. Listick further pointed out the necessity of reviving the Plateau Radio Television Corporation (PRTVC) Radio and TV booster stations in Dangkang, Kumbun and Shendam, at the lowland and the central zones, to ensure that residents have access to timely information and government activities.
In response, Chief Amb. Nanyah Andrew Daman, Jarumin Jat and Group Managing Editor of the NewsGate Magazine and the National Coordinator of Nkalang O'Tarok Ga Liryem, expressed gratitude to Hon. Listick for being the first lawmaker in Tarok history to recognise and engage with the forum. He praised Hon. Listick for his contributions to the 9th and 10th assemblies and encouraged him to continue his commendable work.
Chief Daman also presented several requests, which Hon. Listick promised to consider.
In a vote of thanks, Daman appreciated Hon Nanbol Listick for the sumptuous launch and educating Tarok media executives on the happenings in the State House of Assembly as well as his achievements thus far.
The meeting concluded with other forum members contributing valuable suggestions aimed at advancing both the forum and the Tarok nation.
