The Plateau State Commissioner of Housing and Urban Development, Hon. Sylvanus Dongtoe has disclosed that the Plateau State Governor His Excellency Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang has taken a deliberate plan to decongest the Jos city center.

The Commissioner made the disclosure at the Ministry of Information and Communications conferences hall, Joseph Gomwalk Secretariat  Jos, on Thursday  20th, March, 2025 while addressing members of the stakeholders committee for the preparation of the new greater Jos Masterplan 2024 to 2045.

Hon. Dongtoe stated that the meeting is very critical and important, because the Government of His Excellency Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang is very serious about decongesting Jos city center through the full implementation of the masterplan.

Furthermore, Hon. Dongtoe also stated that the Governor is emphatical about it that's is why they have started engaging the critical building stakeholders. 

He said, this engagement is part of the deliberate act by the Government in way of enlighten and educating the public about the plan ahead.

The Commissioner further revealed that the Governor is interesting in developing the tourism sector. 

And before that should be done, they need to come out with a deliberate policy towards changing the face of the town for good to attract people into the state. 

The Housing Commissioner also revealed that, when they seat to review the Jos Masterplan certainly there are some issues that we believe they are going to come up, but with God on our side we are going to overcome it for sure.

Hon. Dongtoe also make reference to the statement of one of the participants, and said the masterplan might not be to the benefit of those stakeholders seated at the hall but to the benefit of the children yet unborn.

He said, Joseph Gomwalk came up with the masterplan but it has been distorted now. 

Hon. Dongtoe revealed that Jos used to have only one way, but today it is a thing of the past. 

He called on the people to change their way to the things that are going to better the live of a common Plateau man. 

He also said that the stakeholders meeting is going to go a long way by educating the people for them to embrace up on what the government coming up with. 

Also speaking about the timing for the kickstart of the Jos masterplan.

The Honourable Commissioner Ministry of Housing and Urban Development Hon. Dongtoe revealed that they are time bound.

He said, the stakeholders committee are supposed to submit their report in the next two to three to come recommending the next approach.

Furthermore, the commissioner also revealed that there are so many roads projects going on that are very critical within the state capital like Tudun Wada Kabong, Abattoir Gyel, Gero. 

He said all these are some deliberate attempts by the Government of His Excellency Barr Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang towards implementing the Jos masterplan. 

Hon. Dongtoe further disclosed that aside the roads construction embarked upon by this administration, the tourism sector is also receiving a serious attention.

He said as a responsible Government, they can not be inviting investors to come to Plateau without them the Government investing in the tourism sector. 

He called on the people to go to Hillstation Hotel to see for themselves the transformation going on right now courtesy Barr. Caleb  Manasseh Mutfwang administration's deliberate attempt in bringing back the state to its rightful name and slogan "Home of Peace and Tourism". He said.
